Glaciers Melting!

After studying glaciers scientists say that they have retreated the furthest since records began. We need to do more about GLOBAL WARMING! This was how a recent story was reported on the BBC, with pictures of melting glaciers (what they do every summer). Of course they neglect to point out that real glacier measurement only started in the 80s. This report was also based on 30 glaciers. How many glaciers in the world? 16 million.

Pathetic.

Addition: Here you can find the state of the science thus far.

I defrosted my fridge last week.

The bastards will probably claim that as another retreating glacier.

Maybe I should try claiming a couple of million to research how quickly it defrosted. That might cover next years road tax.

There also seems to be a strong European bias with the locations of the glaciers they mentioned. Also I seem to recall recently hearing about a glacier in West Antarctica that has "surged sharply in speed"; interestingly the BBC mention geothermal heat as a possible cause for this.
