Politics, politics and again politics... And if not politics, then global warming... Isn't there anything else, you could write about? It's little dissapointing to see, that one of my most favourite sci-fi writers is such a dryasdust... :-(
Well, you know, I am from Czech republic and you should see our political scene! I don't know much about political troubles of the country of yours, but I think that I can bet with ease, that our political representatives are much worse... What is even more worse in our country - it doesn't make sense to distinguish between 'left' or 'right', because both of these two political wings' representatives are simply SCUM.... Well, my opinion is that all (or at least 99.99%) politicans of the all possible :-) kinds of policital parties in the world are SCUM. Thus - one shouldn't worry about politics, since 'common' man is only a pawn for those who live in the highest room in the highest tower....
Well I guess there is at least one czech politician that Neal would maybe think about twice before calling him scum. ;-))
From my point of view here in Berlin I admit I -as you, Kocourek- surely don't care as much as the english readers about all the anti-labour-rantings, but I certainly do find them amusing.
And after seven years of green-party government participation over here (with a heritage of billions of euro for guaranteed solar-energy-prizes, if needed or not, to be paid in the next 20-30 years) all I have to say to environmentalist doom-mongers is: Fuck off.
As for the sad comeback of socialist ideas and socialist movements emminent in large parts of europe I stumbled upon this brillant article just some weeks ago. Yet another example that in the end it always comes to the same result: totalitarian shit.
Martin, I didn't even have to press the link to know who you were talking about. Vaclav Klaus seems to talk a lot of sense, but then we're on the outside and I guess Kocourek might have a somewhat different opinion. I mean, many people in America used to think Blair was wonderful.
Well, I have to say, that V. Klaus has been way off totally for quite long time... He put himself into position, when everyone, who doesn't blindly agree with him, is against him and is his enemy. His memorable expression of his opinion, that he hasn't seen any signs of global warming in his whole life, that is really something.... And speaking about politics - all he has been spending time last few years was struggling against EU, Eurozone, Euro and Mirek Topolánek, who is our current prime minister.... and really vulgar kind of politician.... yuk :-( In my opinion, V. Klaus is simply one part of, what we economists label as "two-corner solution" - only free-market is good, only right wing of our political spectrum is good and everyone, who doesn't agree with him is simply stupid fool.... So, as you may notice, I don't like him..... well, like any other politician... :-)
I’ve been an engineer, barman, skip lorry driver, coalman, boat window manufacturer, contract grass cutter and builder. Now I write science fiction books, and am slowly getting over the feeling that someone is going to find me out, and can call myself a writer without wincing and ducking my head. As professions go, I prefer this one: I don’t have to clock-in, change my clothes after work, nor scrub sensitive parts of my body with detergent. I think I’ll hang around.

Read further down then, Kocourek. Right now, with Britain being shafted, that's what I'm interested in ranting about.

Yup, Kocourek, I've yet to see a politician that isn't SCUM, but I feel they need to be told this as often as possible.

It is Animal Farm all over again
