But attendees of the conference need not fear, for I’m sure a nicely secure refuge can be found from the crusties in the G20 Smoking Lounge. Elsewhere, throughout the conference, between the lobster thermidor dinners and bottles of Krug, overpaid elitists will be discussing the parlous state of world finances. Once his Brownian movement about the world comes to and end the sainted Brown (or the Anti-Midas as he’s known to his inner circle) , will be promoting his brilliant economic plan to save the world, this basically being that of a junky getting a loan shark to fund his habit, which in Brown’s case is that rather outdated drug called socialism.
Since most ‘ordinary people’ know that many of the problems could be sorted by leaving the money in the hands of those who make stuff and generate wealth rather than transferring it to those who piss it up the wall (like all the attendees of G20), there isn’t a vast amount more for me to add, so I thought I’d take time to ponder some aphorisms for the occasion:
Paper economies always fold.
The greater its distance from the factory floor, the fatter the parasite.
Society is like an animal; its health is directly proportional to the amount of parasites it supports.
The world of politics is a cesspit, and we all know what floats to the top of those.
A banker is just one letter away from reality.
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. (Margaret Thatcher)

Well said Mr A, It will be interesting to see just how far the soap dodgers will be able to push the police, before they meet the blunt end of the standard issue baton, I should have been in London on April 1st, but not anymore.
After 4 hours of intensive debate the delegates have decided that they will have chocolate biscuits at the next conference.
Asked what the agreement was on his global bailout solution that had been derided by the Czech president and the German Chancellor, Our Beloved Leader Gorgon Brunt said, "what bail out? I never mentioned a stimulus package! Who ever said that is a terrorist, a racist and probably a child molester. They're just out to cause more people to lose jobs. I'm getting on the with the job, dealing with global problems that started in America and have globally gone global."

I'm too busy working to take much notice of this nonsense but I'd be hard pressed not to give a passing crustie a little
'talking to' shall we say.
What irks me, and it irks me only a little (because I'm holier than thou), is that the protestors could be doing positive things in there own lives and leading by example, rather than waiting for their once a year kick the shit out of the host country tactics.
How does setting fires in Bank Station help the climate? And how does preventing ordinary workaday people, those already in hard times whether they are in debt or not, help the homeless, the jobless or the feckless?
You only have to do your bit, compost what you can, drive your shit to the local recycling centre rather than dump it in your bin and make it someone else’s problem, save if you can and don't chase the Jones's by getting into debt, ride your bike, walk to the shop and let the train take the strain when convenient or prudent, also have a wider view and educate yourself to the bigger picture that all these systems are now co-dependant and immutable until technology moves us forward, as opposed to going backwards living in mud huts again and watching life expectancy for all humanity slip back to middle age standards.
You gotta look at the positives, green is gaining ground, it’s cool to grow your own, it’s cool to strike a sensible work life balance blah blah blah. Yes there is a shitload of injustice in the world, however I’ve given to charity since I was in primary school (a sponsored walk for Bangladesh because of a Blue Peter appeal), and yet thirty two years or more later Bangladesh is still a shithole. Can anyone say that it’s western capitalism that keeps the people of Bangladesh in poverty, or is that their own leaders are scum?
Rant over ttfn.
it's the usual: protesters protesting about the very state that supports their worthless, jobless, hand-out reliant existence for the mostpart vs. the ignorant aloofness of out of touch with reality politicians from all over.
your point about paraistes is well-made: i believe strongly that is why britain seems to be suffering more than most from this recession.
oh and that tosser sarkosy makes me laugh: grandstanding for those at home, when in reality his pissant little country means very little in the scheme of things - germany & the uk in europe have far larger economies, and japan, china and the US even moreso - he'd have been laughed at and not missed if he had've walked out (and that would have made this week's NATO summit in France extremely funny).
