I saw a metalstorm prototype about 25 years ago on the "Towards 2000" science show - it was a briefcase concealing a .22 machinegun that could fire 300 rounds a second! It's come along a bit since then, I see - perhaps along the lines of Algin Tenkian?
mr-maigo, I would guess that's no an insurmountable problem.
alibaba, I imagine they've come a lot further than we know.
Huan, that would be a later version of Aliens since they cut the scenes from the first version shown. Of course they're not new. I just put the clip up because these guns are similar to how I see the mosquito autoguns.
awesome. i love the mass driver vid and all the different robots and combat robotics that keep appearing on youtube or tv. got another pretty good one for you here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5Y5-Zw5TW0
Like Alibaba said, Metal Storm has been around something like 25 years. Their system of reloading is STILL, take the barrels out, put loaded ones in. The problem with that is the barrel is the heavy part of the gun. Reloading the barrels probably can't be done where ever you're having your war.
I do miss the old 1 Million rounds a minute system... Not that there's anything wrong with 40mm rain.
I’ve been an engineer, barman, skip lorry driver, coalman, boat window manufacturer, contract grass cutter and builder. Now I write science fiction books, and am slowly getting over the feeling that someone is going to find me out, and can call myself a writer without wincing and ducking my head. As professions go, I prefer this one: I don’t have to clock-in, change my clothes after work, nor scrub sensitive parts of my body with detergent. I think I’ll hang around.

Yes although I imagined they would be more upright than that!
I need one or two of those to deny the area of my front door to door-to-door salesmen...
Maybe if they ever figure out how to make them reloadable in the field.

Sentry Guns are not new, remember Aliens, and Aeon Flux?

Philip, they sometimes have to crouch and hide.
