THE HOBBIT Trailer HD

Sent a shiver down my spine yet, oddly, I've never read the book. However I did hear about half of it read by the teacher of my class in junior school.

I think many squee!s of joy were heard across the internet when this came out. There's a video production blog for this, and it's really marvelous seeing Jackson and Co put this together. The trailer is what really makes it shine though! Dwarves tossing plates and singing songs!

Squee!

The book is worth the read, should you find the time :)

The cartoonish dwarves when set against other more sinister figures seems a bit susspect.

They chose to create the dwarves in that fashion so they could be easily told apart, rather then having a mess of Gimlis dashing about.

Also, the dwarves didn't really get to be badass til later in the book, and this is only the trailer for the first half, it's been split into two for the films.

There is a serious lack of beard on some dwarves, (Thorin and Kili mainly) but I do understand why depicted that way.

I can see the film being made with reference to LOTR and plenty of hints of darkness. But not having read the book...
