Modo is a 3D modelling/rendering application, as is Vue. They both have different strengths: Modo is an amazing subdivision surfaces modeller and renderer while Vue is great for vegetation and 'world' building.
I initially thought that all, or at least most, of the vegetation in that short was created with Vue. But it seems it’s all Modo.
I've used Modo (and Vue) for some time. It’s great to see them used on such a project. Normally this stuff is handled by applications like Max or Maya.
I’ve been an engineer, barman, skip lorry driver, coalman, boat window manufacturer, contract grass cutter and builder. Now I write science fiction books, and am slowly getting over the feeling that someone is going to find me out, and can call myself a writer without wincing and ducking my head. As professions go, I prefer this one: I don’t have to clock-in, change my clothes after work, nor scrub sensitive parts of my body with detergent. I think I’ll hang around.

Awesome VFX. Great to see Modo being used for the modelling. And Vue for the vegetation/scenery.
Sorry Darren, I haven't got my Babel fish in today...
Hah! Yes, sorry.

Just came from preview of Iron Sky:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1034314/
Contains also some pretty impressive GFX with almost hobby budget.
A Short? Christ, that was a lot better than most 'Longs' I've seen lately.
