Only problem now is that I don't want to be taking the pipes down to clean them anymore.

Chrish, I'll check that out, but I reckon a bit less booze might be the real answer.

Neil, which, if you check the latest post, is precisely what's happening.

Dan, believe me I've considered that. However bringing my metal detector here I might get pulled up in Customs. The archeology people here are very powerful and using metal detectors is just not allowed. Maybe I can get through with one of those underwater ones and use it while snorkeling.

Graeme, the utility of a rope is that it's just about endlessly re-usable ... for skipping I mean.Neal Asherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13933911904170752700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29616976.post-83710437346504421182011-10-20T13:39:15.434+01:002011-10-20T13:39:15.434+01:00I fail to see the point of making politicians make...I fail to see the point of making politicians makes swings or tightropes in the street Neal. When someone goes swimming in the sea, they do tend to lose gold jewellery. On a beach, if you drop anything metal it usually kicks up a bit of sand on impact, which part-covers it, and makes finding it again quite difficult.

Items lost like this don't go far; they just sink though the sand and come to rest on the hard-pack underlying the sand. When a storm strips a beach, this makes objects that were hitherto hidden under many inches of sand accessible to a detector 9the best of which struggle to go deeper than a foot or so on small items).

The joy of beach detecting is that you can use pulse-induction detectors; there's usually not much iron to give you false signals, and PI machines get deeper, surer signals than inland-orientated machines.

About the only problem is the common or garden pillock turning up and asking after the ring he thought he lost on the beach X years ago, like you're going to tell him if you find it. Short of telling all such fools to bugger off, carry some ultra-cheap costume jewellery that you've roughed-up a bit in one pocket, and "find" that for the daft sod (and claim a few quid reward off the twerp for "finding" it).Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02618328278732100203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29616976.post-66665973449904219862011-10-19T12:50:46.308+01:002011-10-19T12:50:46.308+01:00Sounds like your neighbour needs to bite the bulle...Sounds like your neighbour needs to bite the bullet and hire a mini digger and take a way the bank, while digging a trench around the house for a decent drainage system.

Probably will need to step the resulting bank and reinforce with a bloody thick stone wall.

A good old civils project :)Neilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00817258352819620647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29616976.post-28102290649147212442011-10-19T09:51:17.117+01:002011-10-19T09:51:17.117+01:00Thanks for the pics, the sea taketh away and givet...Thanks for the pics, the sea taketh away and giveth back again or so it seems!
