Okay all you computer literate guys out there. I'm tearing my hair out here. I click on Picture Manager and get 'click-2-run configuration failure'. Any ideas about how I deal with that? I keep running into a brick wall.
Have you used Picture Manager in the past or are you trying to use it for the first time?
Click to Run appears to be a Microsoft Office feature where it will download a new feature of Microsoft Office over the Internet and allow you to "install and run" directly from clicking on an icon.
My guess is that you had a trial version of office and then you upgraded to the full (non-trial) version and there are files conflicting between the trial and full version.
If you have an Office 2010 license key on file my recommendation would be to uninstall all versions of Office and then re-install Office 2010 (non-beta non-trial) version only and then re-license it using your license key. It will probably get this error to go away and other strange errors lurking down the road for you.
When all else fails start writing in a notepad with a pencil and put a calculator next to the PC.
As a general rule this psychological technique works well on errant technology, it lets it know whose boss and who invented whom. If this fails then open an upstairs window and push it out.
Hah, well there you go - things always look better in the morning. In preparation for reloading Office I first deleted the click-2-run version. This wiped out the Picture Manager icon. I deleted that then tried opening it from the start/program menu and it was fine. I sent to desktop again and everything is working. Fingers crossed.
Is this Microsoft Office 2010? If so is it the Beta or the full released version?

ReplyDeleteWithout knowing what program it is etc its hard to tech ya out, however, I would suggest that unless it is Picasa, uninstall it and use that instead.

I second the Picasa thread up there. There is no better Picture Manager 4 free around.

Okay Dan, I know how to uninstall, but where do I go to get the version to re-install. (I am looking now).
