Super Moon?

Here's a picture of the Makrigialos shoreline along from the beaches we frequent while in Crete. According to the photographer, Richard Graves, the sea level has been this low for two weeks. Seeing this I was reminded of when we were chatting to the owner of a bar we frequent called Revans, the owner, Yorgos, talked of how, twenty years ago, he used have a much larger stretch of beach next to his bar. Interestingly, it's been twenty years since the moon was this close to Earth. Coincidence?

Good point Neal , its just that the global warming lobby will probably say that even though levels as shown are lower than normal, the trend demonstrates conclusively that in fact this is a good example of an increase in sea levels. I always thought that the global warming lobby are twits!!!

I remember reading somewhere that by 2010 (or 2007 - I forget which) the Netherlands would be deluged with North Atlantic sea and the Maldives will be a distant memory...Wish I can remember reading that cause who ever wrote it would squirm!!!

omg u mean d m%n S 100% afectd by global warming! Ill hav2 sell my V8 n buy a Toyota Prius RN

Actually I should really just apply for a research grant into how global warming will affect the moon, and the diversity of it's population and the equalities impact of light side inhabitants Vs the economically and socially disadvantaged dark siders.

Growing up, New Age'ers always showed me maps of the world underwater and how it should have happened years ago. Perhaps theres just a portion of the population that just wishes so strongly that the world should end that they'll believe anything that suggests it will happen.

On the global warming front so many things are involved now: noble cause corruption, political manipulation by green groups and government, funding that is now up into the billions, scientific fraud, people now in entrenched positions they find it impossible to back down from, and a charming faith in authority.

But bugger that. Here we see (possibly) the power of the moon which is often neglected in science. It's notable that Piers Corbyn's 'lunar solar technique' gets the weather forecast right when those with their GCMs get it wrong.

Of course this might be nothing to do with the moon. One wit on Facebook suggested that because we're taking the piss out him Gadaffi pulled the plug on the Libyan Sea. I did an actual lol reading that.

Nothing to do with the moon. You see, if it's globally warmer, more water will evaporate and the sea level will be lower. Yep, makes perfect sense.

Neal, wtf does global warming have to do with lunar cycles?????
