Audio Books

Many of you have been asking about the possibility of my books being turned into audio books. Now, I heard that this was going to happen and that negotiations were in progress. Recently getting another query from one of you I inquired about the progress of this and have been told that this is how things stand right now:

The Spatterjay books, The Skinner, The Voyage of the Sable Keech and Orbus are being turned into audio books at audible.co.uk. Production was completed around 1st December but there was a glitch with the audio file for The Voyage of the Sable Keech. That has now been sorted and the books are being processed for uploading to the Audible site. Processing takes approximately five days, so the titles should be live for download by Wednesday next week, 12 Jan.

Enjoy!

really happy to hear that! I hope that it will be available in the german audible store - they sometimes don't let you download stuff released already in other countries. But great news anyway!!!

Ok, I know this doesn't really have to do with the post topic, but a couple of friends & I were wondering what made you decide to write Orbus in the 3rd person present(?) tense. It threw me a bit at first, but I got used to it and liked the book very much. We would love to hear the reason, if you feel like discussing it.
Hope to see more of your work officially published in the US!

Congrats the Asher on a new stream.

Now find who the reader is and profile them on here :-)

Damn, I posted replies and they disappeared...

Lauren,I've used that tense in the past to make things more immediate (Line of Polity, when Tomalon and Skellor battle for control of the Occam Razor) and thought I'd give it a shot for a whole book. Just a gut instinct gamble.

Good idea, Graeme.

This is great, have just got into the audiobooks recently due to the purchase of a Kindle (which I love) and as Amazon own Audible there is tight integration on the device.

It will be interesting to see who has narrated these though, Peter Kenny and Toby Longworth are both very good.

Thanks so much for the answer Neal! I'll look forward to listening to your books when they make it to Audible US.

Fantastic news. Really got into Audiobooks recently. I think your books will really adapt well to the spoken word. Fingers crossed for a good voice actor.

Listening to Pandora's Star at the moment, John Lee is doing/has done a great job of bringing the commonwealth to life.

Just tore through The Skinner and midway through the Voyage of Sable Keech on Audible......genius! Coming from a old whaling city in Massachusetts, there's comfortable familiarity with Spatterjay! Great narration as well. Your works, along with those of Banks, Hamilton, and Reynolds, continue to amaze.
