Okay, here's the first submission to the art competition mentioned. This is Carlos Mendez's crack at doing a Hooper, and he promises more later.

I think that is a great sketch of a sci-fi bionic / upgraded soldier type.
But in my mind he is... filled with too many gubbinz to be a Hooper. I always imagined the Spatterjay Virus aggressively rejecting foreign objects like bionic parts and add-ons. Making Hoopers far more a mass of muscle and scars dressed up like a pirate with the odd sci-fi trapping.
That's a great pic but I also don't feel it is like a Hooper. More like a Gollum with some of the skin ripped off or as Neal said a Jain infected bloke.
Thanks Neal for uploading my sketch to your blog... And thanks for your comments. When I did this pic I was thinking on an augmented hooper...or cored with Prador tech. ...Anyway, I've had such a great time reading Neal's books (in fact, I started reading Sci-Fi again because of them...!) that I'll be doing more pictures inspired on them...Hope you don't mind Neal... :-)
I like the detail and the pose. Matches the level of aggression that I feel when reading the fight scenes. But yup, not what I think of exactly when I imagine a hooper. Robotham you are reading my mind.

jeez, this guy is a total pro.
I agree, Robotham - this looks more like someone infected with Jain technology. Though it is rather good nevertheless.
A blunderbus with a magazine!
I thought "Skellor" when I first saw it.
The boy can draw though, I'm not mocking his effort.

Great work though
