"The Polity....Spatterjay...extremely...the sea...space opera"
there ya go. i did my very beast for ya, and anytime, not a problem.

just email him a few times notifying he should probably reshoot this, talk slower, and then i'll give it another listen.
that might be all ya need to hear about this book before you read it though.

looks like he just got his a few mins before the vid was shot.

I think he could be saying:
'I gave my right arm and my slippers for this book... it was worth it.'

Vaude, you're nearly as good as an Internet translation service. What more can I say?

Bob, so combining the two: In the Polity I gave my right arm on Spatterjay and lost my slippers in the sea for the worth of this space opera?

Who cares he's French. Nuff said..

Ouch, Mark! But since the French publisher has produced one of the best covers going for my books, I refuse to agree with you.

Courtesy of my wonderful French girlfriend:
He is basically saying it is very good and very dynamic. The intrigue is filled with surprises and even though there are lots of climaxes/anti-same etc the story stays in the "rails". Plus point is the action which is the main thing of the book.

He really likes the characters especially Sable Keech, but then goes on to say it is badly written. That the writing is mediocre (flat and poor) in the beginning, but he doesn't know if this it the translation! He adds that you get used to it though.

He finds it a very satisfying and enjoyable read and recommends it for others who enjoy action-packed SF. He labels it a very good holiday book (ie you don't have to think much).

He likes that the book doesn't pretend to be anything but a good SF story.

Lastly he calls Neal a new English SF-author.

Thank you Xanares. I will of course blame the translator for 'flat and poor bit' in not managing to put across my deathless prose (?)

I would think so. If I can get my gf to read both version I could tell, but not sure on that one hehe.
